Light

Vision is one of our key senses and is enhanced by light from direct, reflected and artificial sources. Light allows us to notice our environment and can enhance architecture.
Natural and artificial light illuminate colours and textures of a surface and helps architecture accomplish its goal.
Exterior light gives life to outdoor spaces and exteriors and can change how we view a place. Lighting can showcase outdoor features such as plants, art works, swimming pools and entertainment areas and can contribute to outdoor safety by illuminating walkways, stairs and other potential hazards.
Interior lighting can help to personalise spaces and enhance the ambience. Light can be artificial and natural. Strategically placed windows can allow natural light to illuminate art, decorative items, architectural features and plants and add interest to individual rooms.
Task lighting can be tailored to specific situations such as in kitchens and bathrooms. It can also adapt the ambience of part of a room when used for specialised activities. Hobbies and interests can also benefit from increased or reduced lighting in parts of a room.
